Andrew Garfield has confessed that he and Florence Pugh got a bit too carried away during their intimate scene in We Live in Time.

The 41-year-old actor, who stars alongside 28-year-old actress in the A24 romantic comedy, admitted they didn't hear the crew call 'cut' during a "very intimate, passionate sex scene."

Speaking recently at the cultural centre 92NY in New York City, told the audience: "The scene becomes passionate, as we choreographed it." He added: "And we get into it as it were, and we go a little bit further than we were meant to because we didn't hear 'cut' and it's feeling safe."

"And we're just kinda like, 'Ok, we'll just go into the next thing, we'll let this progress, and we'll just carry on.'" The star also revealed that they continued the scene for so long that the camera operator had to look away.

He said: "And at a certain point, both of us, we're both kind of telepathically saying to each other, 'This definitely feels like a longer take'. I look up, and in the corner is Stuart and our boom operator. Stuart has the camera by his side and he's turned into the wall."

Set for a stateside limited release on 11 October, before gracing UK cinemas on New Year's Day 2025, 'We Live in Time' is a cinematic journey that charts the highs and lows of an aspiring chef (played by Florence Pugh) falling for a recent divorcee (Andrew Garfield), weaving through the threads of their decade-spanning love story. The couple's bliss is interrupted by a life-altering revelation, leading them to face an unthinkable choice about their shared path forward.

We Live in Time also signals Garfield's return to the silver screen after a three-year hiatus. Speaking of his sabbatical, when queried by The Hollywood Reporter, the Tick, Tick... Boom! actor replied, "I think so. Yeah, I think I'm excited to work again in a different way. I feel looser, I feel less precious. I feel more joyful. I feel more aware."

Embracing this fresh chapter in his career, Andrew Garfield confessed, "I feel established enough as a person in the , as an actor within myself and within the world. I know myself well enough now to feel more enjoyment... I'm still a headcase - when I'm on a set, I'm like a dog with a bone and get taken over by some spirit that is never satisfied - but that's never going to change, and I don't want it to, but within that, I can feel a lot more pleasure and a lot more enjoyment, play and freedom."
