BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood issued a warning to viewers as she shared the latest forecast.

The 62 year old meteorologist was back on TV screens on Wednesday morning alongside and Ben Thompson, presenting the latest headlines.

After revealing that severe gale-force winds are expected for the weekend, Carol explained: "Looks like we will have strong winds for some but across the Northwest we could have severe gales so that is something to watch out for, particularly if you're travelling or maybe camping for example but the position of it may yet change so that's one we're looking at closely so just wanted to give you a heads up."

Sally asked: "Carol, that is really useful to know. It's Wednesday today, how long will we have to wait for Sunday's forecast to be firmer? " Carol replied: "Just a day or two, Sal. With each passing day it becomes firmer. So it really is one we're watching so tomorrow we're hoping to have a better idea on where it is going to go."

Ben joked: "And if you stay there does it not come because it's hidden behind you?" A baffled Carol asked: "What are you saying? You cheeky thing, Ben.". Sally stepped in saying: "I'll be having words with him" as a sheepish Ben said: "I'm in trouble now."

During the Tuesday (October 15) episode, presenters Sally and Ben shared a laugh over a controversial conker championship story that had resulted in an angry complaint being lodged after one contestant, who was also a judge, walked away as the winner."

The suspicion revolved around him purportedly using an illicit metal conker to snatch the victory. The accused later cleared the air by disclosing that while he did own such a contraption, it remained tucked away in his pocket for humor rather than being used in the contest.

As the comical conker tale unfolded on-screen, giggles ensued between Sally and Ben, just before they were prompted by production to transition to the upcoming weather segment.

Faced with Carol in the studio, Sally quizzed her about the beloved autumn pastime: "I wonder if Carol has any top tips for those of us who celebrate conker season?"

Caught unawares, Carol burst into giggles and shot back with a teasing comment: "Thanks for that Sal," although her expression revealed she was less than thrilled. "No, is my guess on that," Sally quickly retorted, somewhat disconcerted.

In an effort to maintain a fun on-air dynamic whilst veiling her genuine thoughts on conkers, Carol wittily responded: "Maybe I can conquer the weather? ".

Carol's attempt at humour fell flat, prompting her to admit: "I'm failing miserably," according to the Express. However, her co-hosts Sally and Ben jumped to her defence, insisting she was "too good" before swiftly moving on to the weather segment.
