Boy, 11, fighting for life in hospital after being hit by car in horror collision

An 11-year-old boy is fighting for life in hospital after being hit by a car and suffering serious injuries.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police rushed to the Woodlands area of Doncaster following reports of a collision on Friday afternoon. The police force said the accident, which happened on Great North Road, near the junction with Tenter Balk Lane, involved a pedestrian and a Ford Transit Connect van. The boy was injured and taken to the hospital, while the driver of the van remained at the scene to help officers with their inquiries. The police force is now asking anyone with relevant information on the collision to get in touch with them.

South Yorkshire Police said in a statement this morning: "We are appealing for information, witnesses and footage following a collision in the Woodlands area of Doncaster. We were called at 2.47pm yesterday (Friday 20 September) following reports of a collision on Great North Road, near the junction with Tenter Balk Lane, involving a pedestrian and a Ford Transit Connect van.

"The pedestrian, an 11-year-old boy, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the van remained at the scene to assist our officers with their enquiries. We are now appealing for anyone with relevant information or anyone who witnessed this collision or the moments leading up to it to please contact us.

We are also keen to hear from anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage. If you can have footage to submit that can help our investigative team, please do so via this link.
