"To be honest, I haven't heard anything specific about it yet. That's why I can't really comment on it until it's officially announced," Kane told Sky Germany when asked about Tuchel's talks with the FA.

"We'll have to wait and see what happens. I obviously know Thomas very well from the last year. He's a fantastic coach and a fantastic person. I'm sure the FA will contact me when they know more about this issue."

was signed by Tuchel for Chelsea in the summer of 2022, though only spent a short period working under the German. He has since dropped out of the national team, but it is clear both men hold each other in high regard.

"What he said to me was about my directness, always threatening in behind, not always wanting it into feet, and most importantly how I attack the box. With the full-backs we have here it is something he wants to see a lot more of," Sterling said in August 2022.

"I always judge myself on how effective I am on the game. It depends where I am going to be most effective. In the last game against I played in the false nine position, and I’ll be most happy where I can be effective and help my team."

Reece James image

Tuchel was Chelsea boss for arguably ' best period of form before he was hit by a series of injuries. James has already hinted at how England may play under Tuchel and gave an insight into his style of man-management.

“He is very funny and very passionate because he wants to win. He wants the best for his players and his team, and that shows when he’s on the sideline kicking and heading every ball. Everyone gets on well and it’s a great group," he said in March 2021.

“The style of play that he’s brought in was evident and clear for us to understand. The more we play together, the stronger we will be. Game by game, we will get better and build together.

“When you play for a top team, you cannot always play and you know you might find yourself in a period where you don’t play as much. You have to just keep working hard and you never know when your chance will come.

"I have to keep working and be ready. The manager always has his reasons on why he thinks that person should play. He is the manager and he makes the decisions so I have to respect them.”

Ben Chilwell image

Ben Chilwell endured a tough summer for England at Euro 2020 and credited Tuchel with picking him back up. Chilwell's comments upon his return to the Chelsea side showed Tuchel's compassionate approach.

He said: "Me and the manager at Chelsea had a very honest conversation where he did say to me: 'You know, I feel like mentally at the moment you're just, in training, you're pushing a bit too much to try and get back in the team. We love you here, we know the qualities you possess. Just relax a little bit. You're going to get back in.'

"For me, that was brilliant to hear - and then it was just about being patient and making sure that I was ready, so that when I was called upon to play, I could do my best for the team."

Mason Mount

Now at and out of the England team, played his best football under Tuchel at Chelsea. And from his view of the German's first few days at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel will look to hit the ground running with the Three Lions.

Mount said: "We had a meeting where he [Tuchel] put down everything that he wants us to do, how he wants us to play, how he likes to manage. He told us everything and then we went out and trained. He was so clear on what he wanted and how he would like us to play, very clear on the roles and responsibilities, that it made it very easy for us to transition.

"From day one, as players we realised how he gives his game plan. It made it easy for us to go onto the pitch and do it. As a team we are players who react off that and adapt very quickly. It made it easy and we want to play in these big games and win trophies.

"That has always been our goal and since he has come in, he has pushed us and we have definitely had the opportunity to win big games and play in finals. They’ve all been brilliant since they came in and it's really been working well."
