was left in disbelief while commentating on the vs Premier League clash after former top-flight referee Mike Dean's controversial comment following a referring decision.

The Blues came from a goal down to but it was a strange decision from on-field official Michael Oliver that caused a heated debate in the Sky Sports commentary box.

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill blocked Gunners goalkeeper David Raya as he attempted to take a quick goal kick early in the game. The Englishman intentionally ran in front of his opponent who was trying to launch a counter-attack but avoided a booking, to the shock of co-commentator Neville and Arsenal's players.

"I'm surprised that's not actually a booking, he tries to delay the restart. He does well Raya and Colwill just sort of blocks him," Neville said.

Ex-referee Dean, who is now part of Sky Sports' broadcasting team, was then quick to chime in offering his opinion as to why Oliver didn't produce a yellow card. Dean admitted that when he was a referee, he would often allow players to commit a 'free' first foul without being shown a card. "I know it sounds daft when you say free but the first one always a good talking to for the player who committed the offence and the second time you would have to penalise," he said.

A stunned Neville then replied: "Is that in the letter of the laws Mike? First one is free?" The comments from Dean certainly won't help his former colleagues who have been criticised by supporters and pundits all season for their lack of consistency.

It's yet to be seen if the PGMOL or its chief Howard Webb will comment on the situation, but given the decision didn't have a direct outcome on the result it's unlikely.

Several fans agreed with Neville on social media, with one even calling for Dean to be taken off air, saying: "The introduction of Mike Dean to the commentary wasn’t wanted by anyone and adds absolutely nothing . Get him away from the mic."
