Giorgi Mamardashvili insists Valencia can dodge relegation this season.

The Georgian goalkeeper, who signed for Liverpool during the summer before returning to Valencia on a season-long loan, has pledged to "give everything" to help improve the team's current standing. He caught Liverpool's attention at Euro 2024 this summer and is considered one of the most promising young talents in world soccer.

Despite this, his start to the season with Valencia has been challenging. The team currently sits at the bottom of La Liga, having secured only one point from their first five games. Mamardashvili hasn't kept a clean sheet this season, conceding 10 goals.

Nevertheless, Mamardashvili remains confident that the team can start climbing the table. Speaking to Super Deporte, the goalkeeper said: “Valencia, this city and this club have changed my life and I want to give everything I can this year. Valencia has been key in my career, it has helped me a lot these past three years, they have been incredible and I want to say thank you."

When asked if Valencia could turn things around, Mamardashvili added: "Yes, of course. We have to recover everything and I am convinced that we are going to win. Of course we have to change the dynamic because the five games have been very difficult."

Despite securing a significant move for the upcoming summer, Mamardashvili will be hoping for an upturn in Valencia's form to demonstrate his potential as Liverpool's future first-choice keeper to Arne Slot. Current number one Alisson Becker is contracted with the Reds until 2027 and has expressed his intention to see out his contract.

Meanwhile, backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who was rumored to be moving to Nottingham Forest on deadline day, confessed that the imminent arrival of Mamardashvili had heightened his wish to seek more playing time elsewhere.
