It's almost Halloween, and many households will already have adorned their homes with spooky decor.

However, some have gone above and beyond and have gone one step further than the odd , skeleton, or bat, by picking a theme and going all out.

Fans of 's 'The Shining' are bound to go wild for this person's Halloween decorations, as they have adorned their home from top to bottom with nods to the 1977 novel and 1980 film of the same name.

Did you know that the setting and characters are influenced by King's personal experiences, including both his visit to The Stanley Hotel in 1974 and his struggle with alcoholism? This makes it all the more .

Taking to Reddit's 'Halloween Decor' forum, someone posted photos of their home, writing: "Every year I do a different theme. This year was The Shining."

Details included 'REDRUM', written on the door, which we all know is 'murder' backwards, a discarded trike, the carpet, the scary twin girls, and it even featured hotel number '237' of the Overlook hotel – an establishment we'd all be more than happy to avoid at all costs.

Fans of the book were enamoured in the comments, wondering how they'd managed to make it look so amazing.

Someone praised: "Damn, this is awesome! You could probably leave it as decorations too, as long as you leave a frozen Jack out front in the snow". Another said it was "fantastic", showering appreciation on the carpet, which they said they "loved".

"So so cool! Is the carpet a projection?", one Stephen King fan asked, and the original poster wrote: "Nope, I bought 2 of these shower curtains on Amazon Shining theme shower curtain. One I painted with black light reactive paint the other I left as is." They also reiterated that it wasn't "slick", so could be walked on without worry.

Other comments included: "This looks AMAZING!!!! I wish I could see it in person, your neighbours are so lucky", "Yes! This would be so awesome to see every year", "How fun, bravo", "This is so freaking awesome!!", "Incredible wow", "This rules", and "This is beyond freggin awesome!!!!"

Someone asked them whether they get a lot of trick-or-treaters on Halloween night, and the original poster said they get "Around 100 or so depending on if the Maine weather cooperates".

Interestingly, Maine is where Stephen King was born and has served as the setting for a number of Stephen King's novels, novellas, and short stories - in the fictional town of Derry, Maine. Stephen lives in Maine and Florida with his wife, novelist Tabitha King.
