ITV 'axes' two major shows from schedule and one episode 'will never be aired' again

ITV has reportedly axed two shows - the celebrity song contest Britain Get Singing and the Saturday Night Takeaway gameshow spin-off Ring My Bell.

TV Zone reports that the pilot episode of Ring My Bell may never be broadcast. The show was anticipated to be a big hit as it would have mirrored the original segment in Saturday Night Takeaway, with producers "hacking" into viewers' doorbell cameras across the nation.

A variety of games were planned, including fans racing to be the first at doors, or guessing what happens next in a clip. The concept is already proven, having been a massive success on Ant and Dec's show - but it has now fallen victim to a brutal revamp.

Likewise, viewers will be gutted to hear that Britain Get Singing is also reportedly being scrapped, despite being a Christmas Eve fixture for the past few years. Last year, Roman Kemp hosted the star-studded event, with celebrities from Good Morning Britain, Love Island, Coronation Street, The Masked Singer and EastEnders all battling each other in an astonishing sing-off.

The Coronation Street team, which included Claire Sweeney and Lisa George, were declared the overall winners. However, EastEnders stars such as Emma Barton and Sid Owen, gave them a run for their money with their performance of Ain't No Mountain High Enough, reports the Express.

Kate Garraway, Charlotte Hawkins, Laura Tobin, Alex Beresford and Dr Amir Khan were the faces of GMB on last year's show. All the groups had to do was win over a panel of meticulous judges - The Masked Singer's Jonathan Ross, Blackeyed Peas' Will. i.am, Britain's Got Talent's Alesha Dixon and Queen's Adam Lambert.

While Corrie took home the trophy in 2023, it was Loose Women who triumphed in the 2022 edition of the show, with a performance of Bridge Over Troubled Water. However, there might still be a glimmer of hope for the show, as TV Zone has suggested that the possibility for the format to make a comeback in the future hasn't been completely ruled out.

The two reportedly cancelled shows join ITV quiz show Tenable, which also fell victim to the axe earlier this month. The show, presented by Harry Potter's Warwick Davis and later Sally Lindsay, was suddenly pulled from the airwaves despite a backlog of episodes reportedly ready to be broadcast.

The show's Twitter account has also mysteriously vanished, with a message appearing for those who attempt to access it reading: "Account suspended. X suspends accounts which violate the X Rules."

An ITV spokesperson confirmed: "Tenable has been a much loved ITV game show since it launched in 2006. Whilst there are no brand new episodes currently planned, fans of the show can still watch over on ITVX."

The Daily Mirror has reached out to ITV for a comment.
