Liverpool handed Mohamed Salah concern after Arne Slot reacts to contract hint

Mohamed Salah's at hangs in the balance.

has been in scintillating form this season, contributing to 16 goals in just 15 appearances across all competitions. His ninth goal of the season came on Saturday, securing a 2-1 victory over and propelling Liverpool above to the top of the Premier League table.

However, despite his stellar performances, Salah's contract situation remains unresolved. His current deal expires at the end of the season, meaning he could negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January, potentially leaving Anfield on a free transfer next summer.

While discussions are ongoing between Liverpool and Salah's representatives, his future remains uncertain. This uncertainty has impacted his market value according to Transfermarkt, who currently value him at €55 million ($59.8 million), a significant decrease from the €65 million ($70.7 million) valuation in December last year, representing a roughly 20 percent drop within a year.

Indeed, Salah's market value has been on a downward trend since 2021, with his valuation in December of that year standing at €100 million ($108.8 million). Whether Salah's value will see an upturn in the near future remains uncertain, but with each passing week without a contract renewal, it appears his valuation is set to continue its downward trajectory.

Salah recently dropped a hint about his situation after scoring the winner against Brighton on Saturday. "Whatever happens, I'll never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like," he wrote on social media.

Slot was asked about Salah's remark on Monday. He said: "(laughs), You interpreted it in a way other people don't, I don't look at the Instagram posts of my players, I only talk to them - which you can't. That's the advantage I have, as long as someone doesn't hide them!

"Mo is in a very good place at the moment. As long as he's been at Liverpool he's been in a good place, but this season as well, I'm hoping that he will post one after tomorrow, Saturday again, and what he says isn't important to me, what's important to me is how he plays and what he tells me when we have conversations. That's what matters, not how you guys interpret one of his posts.

"I should have spoken to him about what he said if that was a reference, but I haven't spoken about him, we've spoken about Leverkusen, because that team deserves all our attention for the quality they have. He's out of contract at the end of the season, Virgil said something in the press, now he has a post which you interpret in a certain way. This will continue for as long as their future is not clear, but in the meantime let's hope they bring in performances that Virgil had and Mo had on the weekend."
