An Argentinian youngster dubbed the next Angel Di Maria . Thiago Fernandez is making a name for himself in Argentina with Velez Sarsfield, and the 20-year-old has been linked with a host of top clubs.

Several clubs are reportedly keeping tabs on winger Fernandez, who has registered five goals and nine assists in 33 appearances for Velez this season.

However, it sounds as though will have a head-start over any of its rivals if it chooses to pursue the Argentina after he revealed his ambition to move to Anfield.

In a talk at the Interamerican Open University in Rosario, Argentina, : “Playing in Europe, and specifically for Liverpool, is my dream."

Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool remains up in the air, with the Egyptian's contract at Anfield due to expire at the end of the season, and Fernandez could be a winger who fits the bill.

Away from Liverpool transfer talk, Fernandez largely discussed the pressures of being a professional football player during the talk and spoke about the importance of receiving psychological help to cope with them.

He said: "The pressure that a high-performance player experiences is complicated and one looks for as many tools as possible to be well. The amount of pressure there is, the nervousness, the anxiety, there is a lot of mental issues that need to be worked on by the players. A lot of it also has a physical impact, if they are not mentally well it has an impact on injuries, and I not only think that all players should have a psychologist at their side but I agree that most people should go to a psychologist, to therapy.

"The truth is that I started recently and it helped me a lot. Nowadays it is difficult to maintain a pace of life and how one lives and the issue of leaving one's studies and all that, when one looks at it from another perspective it has nothing to do with what one is studying or experiencing but with what one has in mind."

Should Liverpool end up signing Fernandez in the future, it sounds as though the club will be getting a player with a wise head on his shoulders.
