Things took a hilarious turn during the latest instalment of as newly married pensioners shared a jaw-dropping confession.

The popular news programme was back on Friday with presenters Adil Ray and at the helm. Discussing the latest news headlines, the pair later introduced married couple Norman Giller and Joyce Lambert who recently tied the knot.

Incredibly, Joyce 89, and Norman 85, met each other while queuing to pay their respects to the late Queen as she lay in state. But although their story was filled with love and admiration, the pair were not shy of poking fun at themselves.

Giving insight into what her family thought of Norman's unexpected proposal, Joyce left the presenters stunned. She explained she thought Norman had fallen over when he got down on one knee.

Adil said: "Can I say Joyce, you've been very quiet and reserved, very ladylike. But from that one line that is an absolute cracker..."

Joyce replied: "I think my great-grandson really had the line. When my son was talking to his wife saying about mum's getting married, my great-grandson, Harrison, turned round and said, 'Grandmas don't get married, they die!'"

Shocked by her admission, Adil and Kate both let out a surprised laugh. After realising that Harrison was only five years old, host Adil added: "I mean he's right to a certain extent. But he's got a lot to learn, hasn't he." Kate jokingly mentioned: "Let's just hope he's not a mystic grandson!"

Another penned: "What a great couple - great listening to them." A third also added: "Aww congratulations to them."

After a whirlwind romance, Joyce and Norman recently exchanged vows at an intimate wedding in Southend-on-Sea on October 18. The loved-up pair were both widowed before they were introduced to each other by their children and said they haven't looked back since meeting unexpectedly.
