Supercomputer makes shock Carabao Cup prediction as Arsenal and Chelsea sent Tottenham warning

A supercomputer has predicted who will win the Carabao Cup this season after Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur ventured into the fourth round of the competition. Mikel Arteta, Enzo Maresca and Ange Postecoglou will be just as determined as each other to get their hands on some silverware, but there's a long road ahead.

The Lilywhites booked their place in the next stage last week when Brennan Johnson netted a stoppage-time winner against Coventry City. The Blues then confirmed their spot in the fourth round after storming past Barrow on Tuesday night before the Gunners followed suit on Wednesday evening, defeating Bolton Wanderers.

Arsenal have been drawn away to Preston North End, meanwhile, Tottenham will host Manchester City and Chelsea will play either AFC Wimbledon or Newcastle United. The remaining Carabao Cup draw is as follows: Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton vs Stoke City, Manchester United vs Leicester City, Brighton vs Liverpool and Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace.

Those ties will take place during the week commencing Monday, October 28, with each team eyeing a place in the final at Wembley Stadium in March. According to a supercomputer powered by Casino Hawk, Tottenham are currently tipped as favourites to win the competition (16.1%).

Manchester City have been backed as runners-up, with just a 13.4% chance of winning the Carabao Cup. Arsenal have come in as third favourites (11.9%), with Liverpool in at fourth (8%), Manchester United in fifth (7.6%) and Aston Villa in sixth (7.4%).

Chelsea, however, have only been backed to win the Carabao Cup at 6.7% by the Casino Hawk supercomputer. While Arteta and Maresca may be disappointed, Postecoglou may feel as if his bold claims regarding silverware have been further vindicated.

The Spurs boss raised eyebrows when he insisted, 'I always win things in his second year', during an awkward interview after the north London derby. Postecoglou was latter quizzed on his comment, which he doubled down on.

When asked about the exchange on Sky Sports, he said: "It's amazing, isn't it? I just stated a fact and it seems like, am I supposed to just lie or just say it never happened? But, no, it's just confusing to me that people are making a big deal out of something.

"I'm not sure how I'm supposed to answer something that is true. Like if I don't win it in the second year this year and I come out next year and say 'well, I always win it', well, no, actually it's not true, but I've just said something that's true, and it seems like it's upset a lot of people for some reason.

"But do you really think it's me sort of boasting? How am I supposed to answer something that's true? Is it to say, 'well, actually, no, it wasn't that important, they were easy competitions and they don't mean anything'.

"If you've achieved something, aren't you supposed to say ' yes, I have, and that's what I hope to do again'? I'm not really sure why people misconstrue it as me trying to boast about something. I've answered a question which I think somebody else brought up here anyway, before that, which is true.

"That's always happened and my plan is for it to happen again this year. And if it doesn't happen, then I can't answer that question in the same way next year, I can say 'mostly' not 'always'."
