Vanessa Feltz crumbled when cheating ex sent her shock text meant for another woman

Send Push

has shared the devastation she felt after her cheating ex sent her a string of texts intended for another woman.

Ahead of the release of her brand new book, the 62-year-old broadcaster got candid about her love life, including the heartache she's endured over the years.

According to , she'd been enjoying a family dinner at a West End restaurant in January 2023, when her then-fiancé Ben Ofoedu decided to slip away in a taxi early - before she'd even finished off her meal.

Fed up with what they perceived as disrespectful behaviour on the part of their future stepfather, let her know about a tip-off they'd received from an online troll - who'd claimed he was being unfaithful.

It was then that her philandering fiancé's web of lies finally began to unravel, leaving stunned. And things only got more upsetting from there.

Once inside the cab, Vanessa confronted her then-partner, who was 10 years her junior, leaving him 'spluttering, stuttering, expostulating'. She recalled: "I didn't understand because he wasn't making sense."

Finally, the love rat found his voice and, to Vanessa's horror, confessed he had indeed been messaging another woman. She would later learn that this had been carrying on for more than a year and that it wasn't just a one-off on his part.

Remembering that awful night, Vanessa revealed: "I couldn't stand another second. I couldn't bear it. I opened the door of the moving taxi and jumped. My coat was torn. Blood was seeping from a cut on my arm. I assumed he would stop the cab and follow to see if I'd survived the leap. He didn't."

Instead, things went from bad to worse when the would-be Romeo clumsily sent her a series of texts intended for his mistress, before uploading pics of himself hitting the clubs. Taking decisive action, Vanessa changed the locks that night, and hasn't seen him since leaping from that taxi.

Preferring never to utter his name again, Vanessa cheekily refers to her former beau as 'One Hit Wonder' (OHW) - in reference to his 1999 hit. And although he's chosen to be vocal about their relationship, she's decided to rise above and keep schtum - with this marking the first occasion she's spoken out.

Vanessa explained: "I tried to take the high ground on it and not say anything at all, but it's made me pretty miserable. Especially as I had loved this person. And I think I had been a loving and kind, loyal, sort of decent, faithful, smiling, encouraging kind of partner. I don't think I'd done anything to deserve that."

Sadly, this bruising ordeal has taken its toll on Vanessa, who's declared she's now hesitant about falling for someone else, having learned the hard way to be careful with her heart. She admitted: "I've been single for 21 months and counting. It's not my happy state. But I'm certainly not going to be plunging in with any old renegade who comes along and says they like my eyes.

"I won't be going 'Here's my chequebook', 'Come and take a kidney, what would you like?’ ‘Please let me give you half my house immediately’. I’m not doing that anymore."
