West Ham protests explained and why supporters are furious with owner David Sullivan

West Ham United supporters will protest against the club's board on Monday night ahead of their Premier League clash with Brentford.

Supporters' group Hammers United has called for a total boycott of this evening's game in the latest movement for change at the London Stadium. Last month, the group formed a protest before the Crystal Palace defeat by marching on the directors' entrance.

Another protest followed that in the 2-0 loss at Arsenal before the international break, where black balloons and flags were visible from the away end. Now, Hammers United are calling for fans not to attend the Brentford game - Nuno Espirito Santo's first home game in charge.

"We would like to welcome our new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, and his coaching staff to the club and wish them all the very best as they work together to improve performances on the pitch and put West Ham United back on track," the group's open letter read.

"As you will no doubt be aware, prior to your arrival at the club, we launched the No More BS campaign which is calling for the resignations of Karren Brady and David Sullivan.

"This campaign was not aimed at your predecessors; it is not aimed at you and your team, and we would like to take this opportunity to make it absolutely clear that you have our full support."

Hammers United are also said to be planning a sit-in after West Ham's Premier League clash against Newcastle on November 2, as well as another march against Burnley six days later.

As part of their call for David Sullivan and Karen Brady to leave, supporters will march to the London Stadium to hand in a fans petition for the duo to exit, which has already had over 15,000 verified signatures.

In his press conference ahead of the game, Espirito Santo admitted that the proposed protest for the Brentford clash was a reflection of where the Hammers currently find themselves. Following results over the weekend, West Ham sit 19th in the Premier League and three points from Burnley outside the bottom three.

"I wish they are there. I wish," the former Nottingham Forest and Wolves boss said. "I hope that all our fans could join us and help us facing Brentford because it's going to be a very tough game.

"Like I said, it is an honest reflection [of where the club is at]. It is up to us now to give back to the fans so they can come closer and support us. We as a squad and a group, we ignore, we try to ignore, focus on the tasks and perform and compete and play well so the fans can be there. That is what we are focused on."
