CBSE New Rules: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has again clarified the rules for schools regarding the number of children in each section from class 1 to 12. Normally, there should be only 40 children in each section, but in certain circumstances, schools can admit up to 45 children. Let's know what are the new rules?
CBSE Guidelines: There will be 40 children in each section
CBSE says that in normal circumstances, there should be a maximum of 40 children in each section from class 1 to 12. This keeps the study environment in the classroom good and the teacher's attention is able to go to every child, but many schools demanded that, in certain special cases, they should be allowed to admit more children. CBSE listened to them and gave an exemption with some conditions.
Student in CBSE Class: When will the exemption for 45 children be given?
CBSE has made it clear that the exemption of up to 45 children will be available only in special circumstances. What are these circumstances? Let us know-
Transfer of parents: If the parents of a child have been transferred. Especially the children of people working in the army, central government employees, PSU, or the private sector, etc., can get an exemption for admission.
Repeating children: Children who are in the essential repeat category, i.e., studying again in the same class for some reason.
Children with serious illness: If a child has lagged in studies due to serious illness and needs admission.
Hostel to day-scholar: Children who are leaving the hostel and becoming day-scholars will get an exemption for admission.
Improvement in studies: Some children want to get admission again to improve their studies. But keep in mind that this exemption will be given only when the school really does not see any other way.
CBSE Rules for Schools: What will the schools have to do?
If a school wants to admit more than 40 children, then it will have to follow some rules-
Class 9 to 12: The reason for admission will have to be uploaded on the CBSE portal. It will also have to be written in the admission and withdrawal register of the school.
Class 1 to 8: The reason will have to be recorded only in the admission and withdrawal register, but in all cases, the information will have to be uploaded on the OASIS portal of CBSE.
Regional office approval: Permission will have to be taken from the regional office of CBSE to admit children of the transfer or repeat category in the middle of the session.
No more than 45 children at all
CBSE has strictly said that under no circumstances can there be more than 45 children in a section. The board made it clear that no school can teach more than 45 children in a section under any circumstances. This rule has been made so that there is no crowd in the classroom and the quality of studies is maintained.
Classroom Rules: What are the conditions of the classroom?
If the school admits 45 children, then it will have to ensure some basic facilities. These rules are under clause 4.8 of CBSE Affiliation Bye-laws 2018. This provides a comfortable and safe environment for children to study. According to its rule, the size of the classroom should be at least 500 square feet. There must be at least 1 square meter of space for each child. CBSE has suggested to the schools that they should prepare to re-implement the limit of 40 children per section in the future. For this, schools will have to improve their basic facilities, like building new classrooms or improving the existing structure.
