Miley Cyrus releases new song: More to Lose

The song is an emotional gut-punch wrapped in dreamy piano melodies and lyrics that cut deep. Think classic Miley meets cinematic drama. “I stay / When the ecstasy is far away,” she sings with that soul-rattling voice, layering vulnerability over a relationship that is clearly hanging on by a thread. By the time she whispers, “I just thought we had more to lose,” you might already be texting your ex.

The music video is simplicity at its most powerful. It kicks off with Miley in that avant-garde look from the Something Beautiful album cover, think edgy, weirdly regal, and undeniably Cyrus. Then, in a floor-length black gown, she lets the tears fall. No glam filter here, just real-life “ugly crying but still hot” energy as she sings about tears streaming like the couple’s “favourite show.”

For the finale? A mysterious trench coat moment with a sheer veil half-hiding her face, serving spooky sad widow realness. It is giving fashion funeral for a failed relationship and fans are here for it.

More to Lose is one of the tracks off her upcoming album Something Beautiful, arriving 30 May. And yes, it follows the ethereal breadcrumbs of earlier releases, Prelude, End of the World, and the title track.

But wait, there is more. Miley is also premiering a companion film for the album at Tribeca Festival on 6 June. Earlier this week, she hosted a preview event with Spotify at New York’s Metrograph, where she opened up about the lifelong bond she shares with fans. According to her, what makes this project so magical is that “we basically grew up together.”

She even threw it all the way back to her Hannah Montana days and shared how comforting it is to have fans who remember everything from her house burning down to the death of her fish, Pablow. Only Miley could make you feel nostalgic for a blowfish.
