What is the secret behind Kapil Sharma's impeccable comic timing and sharp wit? According to his longtime collaborator Archana Puran Singh, it is a lot of barely held tears and angst. The 'Kapil Sharma Show' judge was recently seen visiting the home of popular music composer and content creator Yashraj Mukhate, along with her husband, actor Parmeet Sethi, and their two sons, Aaryamann and Ayushmaan. During their time together, Archana shared several personal stories and behind-the-scenes memories, including experiences from her long-standing association with comedian Kapil Sharma.

Singh reflected on her co-star Kapil's long and tough road to stardom. Reflecting on his humble beginnings, she spoke about the emotional depth behind his humor, revealing how his challenging early life, marked by poverty and the loss of his father to cancer, shaped the artist he is today. Archana emphasized that such authentic comedic brilliance could only stem from someone who has endured real hardship.

“If you can make someone laugh, there have to be a lot of tears within you. Kapil ne itni struggle dekhi hai. His childhood was spent in a lot of poverty; his father died of cancer, so there were a lot of struggles. But then, he got such a talent that he can make the world laugh,” she said.

" Usmein bahut depth hai; itna humour aa hi nahi sakta agar aapmein depth na ho (You can’t be this funny if you don’t have depth)," she added.

Archana also took the opportunity to clarify a long-standing misconception about her trademark laughter on comedy shows. Addressing the widespread belief that her laughter on Comedy Circus and The Kapil Sharma Show was often exaggerated or unnecessary, she revealed that during the early seasons of Comedy Circus, the editors would frequently insert her laughter during weak comic moments to enhance the scene.

This practice made her appear overly enthusiastic, even when the jokes weren’t genuinely funny. She admitted that while occasionally she would try to elevate a lackluster joke with her reaction, the excessive editing was beyond her control at the time. Now, she assured, the laughter heard on current shows is more authentic and earned.

" When people say ki aap unnecessary hasate ho...pehle toh edit ka nonsense tha comedy circus ke time, meri hasi zabardasti daalte the. The punch wasn’t even good; my laugh was edited after that, and I used to look really ridiculous. But yes, the agar joke is 19-20, then I have to make it 21, but it can’t be a 5 (people say you laugh unnecessarily, but there was a lot of edit nonsense at the time of Comedy Circus). They would forcibly add my laughter even when the punch wasn’t good. But yes, if the joke is not good enough, then I could make it 5," she said.
