Colonel Sofiya Qureshi’s family, with her being one of the two female military officers who conducted briefings on India’s cross-border strikes against terror targets during Operation Sindoor, participated in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Vadodara, Gujarat, on Monday.
Colonel Qureshi’s parents, Taj Mohammad and Halima Qureshi, greeted Prime Minister Modi as crowds gathered along the streets for the roadshow, which began at Vadodara’s Harni Airport and included cultural performances.

Her grandfather served in the Indian Army as a religious teacher, responsible for providing moral and spiritual guidance to soldiers. This commitment to military service continues with her husband, who is currently serving in the Mechanized Infantry, a unit specialized in armored warfare.

Col Sofiya Qureshi, part of India’s elite military briefing team, joined Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh on Wednesday to inform the media about the missile strikes carried out during Operation Sindoor. These strikes were launched in retaliation to the terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in 26 deaths, mostly tourists. Indian forces targeted nine terror locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Before joining the Army, Sofiya completed her Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Maharaja Sayajirao University in 1997. Despite her background in science, she opted for a military career and joined the Corps of Signals. Over the years, she has taken on several key responsibilities and leadership roles in the Army.
