Morena (Madhya Pradesh): India-Pakistan tension has left such an impact on residents that a blast in firecracker stock in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district was confused with a missile dropped by Pakistan, on Friday.
The explosion occurred in Morena’s Jaora which caused panic among residents. Scared, people escaped from their homes. The debris from the damaged house was scattered over a large area.
The explosion completely destroyed a house and caused cracks in nearby buildings. After the dust and smoke settled, it was discovered that the blast was caused by a stock of firecrackers stored inside the house.
During investigation police found two bags full of firecrackers at Shakeel Mansoori’s residence, the brother of Ashok Khan.
Such explosions frequent in Morena
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in this area. The street in front of Jaora police station is known for illegal firecracker businesses. Similar explosions have happened in the past. Some even lead to deaths and severe property damages.
Despite repeated accidents, police have allegedly failed to take strict action. Locals claim none of the people involved in the firecracker trade have licenses or legal registrations. Yet they continue their business openly.
Residents also said, they have filed several complaints with the police, but no strong action has ever been taken so far. They are demanding that firecracker stocks be moved out of residential areas to ensure safety for families living nearby.
