The Mumbai Unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have arrested a lady PSI from VB Nagar police station for allegedly demanding bribe from a man against whom a case has been registered at the police station in order to help in the case. However, a constable who had accepted the bribe amount, got a whiff of ACB action and escaped in his vehicle with the bribe money.
According to the ACB, a case has been registered against the complainant and his friend at VB Nagar police station. The investigating officer of the said case is PSI Jayashree Londhe, had called the complainant and his friend to the police station on 03/08/2025. Accordingly, when the complainant, his friend and the complainant's relatives went to the police station, PSI Londhe demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant and his friend to help him in the said crime and confiscated his mobile phone.
ACB Verification Reveals Fresh Bribe Demand
"When the complainant said that he was a labourer and did not have that much money, PSI Londhe demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant as a final amount and threatened to put the complainant behind the jail if the money was not paid. At the time of the said crime, the complainant's relatives paid Rs 15,000 to PSI Londhe and was told that his mobile phone will be returned only after paying the remaining bribe of Rs 35,000," said an ACB officer.
Thereafter, on 04/08/2025, PSI Londhe again asked the complainant's relatives to bring the remaining bribe of Rs 35,000 if they wanted the mobile phone and wanted to help them assist in the crime. However, as the complainant did not want to bribe public servants, he appeared at the ACB office on 05/08/2025 and filed a complaint.

In accordance with the said complaint, a verification into the allegations of the complainant was conducted by the ACB on 05/08/2025, wherein it was found that PSI Londhe had demanded a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant's relatives and after negotiations, the remaining bribe amount was brought down to Rs 25,000.
PSI Londhe Arrested, Constable on the Run
Accordingly, during the immediate trap operation, police constable Jayaprakash Mali took a bribe amount of Rs 25000 from the complainant's relatives, but as soon as Mali got suspicious, he fled with the bribe money in his vehicle.
