A 42-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a speeding vehicle on the Eastern Express Highway near the Kanjurgaon bus stop around midnight on Friday. The deceased is Noor Mohammad Saratullah, a native of Siddharthnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The Vikhroli police have registered a case against the unidentified driver. The exact vehicle involved in the collision remains unknown as the accused fled the scene.
The police received information about the incident around 12.05am. Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying face down in the middle of the Eastern Express Highway with a severe head injury.
The injured man was transported to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar East, where he was examined and declared dead. The police found a bag in his possession containing his Aadhaar and PAN cards, through which they confirmed his identity.
The police are currently investigating which vehicle hit the pedestrian and are trying to trace the driver. They are also gathering more information about the deceased. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
A case has been registered against an unidentified individual under Sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, on April 5.
