Nutritionist-Influencer Faces Backlash On Video Of Househelp's Child Eating On Floor; Defends Herself, 'This Kid Doesn't Need Your Pity'

Nutritionist-cum-influencer, Sonakshi Sharma is facing backlash on one her videos where she is alleged on fostering classicism between her child and househelp's child. The video which she actually posted about Baby-Led Weaning (BLW) has been taken out of the context by netizens and has sparked controversy about parenting, classicism and her responsibility as an influencer. The nutritionist has defended herself and has clarified that this video is being taken out of context and she has not intended to encourage any kind of objectivity.

On June 29, Sonakshi Sharma posted a video showing how BLW in India is getting affected by the influence of western countries. In the video, she can be seen sitting on a couch while her baby enjoys meal sitting in a high chair. In the second part of the video, she has added a clip which shows her househelp's 3-year-old, sitting on the floor and having his meal. The video has sparked heated comments accusing her for showing this contrast.

After fiery backlash, the mom-influencer has clarified in the caption itself. She wrote, "Before you jump your guns here, this video is from two different days and I don’t practice idiotic things like untouchability in 2025 for god’s sake! We just valued this child’s preference itm, that’s it."

"I understand that those showing concern are good people but this child doesn’t really need your pity for such a trivial thing. The intent of the video is to show that you don’t need fancy utensils or chairs to start BLW and that it has been a thing in India since ages," she added.
