Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday began a continuous 24-hour debate on the “Vision Document-2047,” focusing on the theme Developed India, Developed Uttar Pradesh. The discussion, which started in the morning, will continue until 11 a.m. on August 14.
Opposition leaders questioned the government over progress in the last eight-and-a-half years. Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey demanded a detailed account of fulfilled promises since 2017.
Opposition Questions Government Progress
SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav criticised the focus on 2047 targets, urging the government to address present-day challenges like unemployment, farmer distress, and unfulfilled housing commitments. Congress leader Aradhana Mishra raised issues of MSP for farmers, alleged irregularities in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, and a low health budget allocation.
Treasury Highlights Achievements
Treasury benches countered by highlighting improvements in law and order, investment climate, and progress in education and health. Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said the state has laid a strong development foundation since 2017, while Deputy CM Keshav Maurya called the debate meaningful for shaping future policy.
Session Witnesses Heated Exchanges
The session saw heated exchanges, with SP and Congress members staging walkouts after disputes over remarks and responses.

Security arrangements included three-shift police deployment, 700 personnel, 12 PAC companies, and drone and CCTV monitoring, according to DCP Central Ashish Srivastava. The Assembly also discussed demands to revoke DIOS powers to suspend teachers, which led to further protests in the Legislative Council.
