Dewas (Madhya Pradesh): A van driver struck a beggar and dragged him for about half a kilometre, resulting in his tragic death in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas, as reported by police on Thursday.
As per reports, the accident occurred near Chamunda Complex on AB Road, where a recklessly driven van hit the beggar who was walking in the middle of the road.
Despite efforts from bystanders to chase the driver, he managed to escape.

According to eyewitnesses, when the driver was heading towards Anand Bagh, the beggar fell off the vehicle on one side as the van speeded away on AB Road.
The beggar was reported to be alive when he fell off the vehicle, however, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The entire incident was captured in CCTV footage, which is also being circulated on social media widely.

Though traffic signals have been installed at key locations, such as Ujjain Road and Civil Line intersections, many drivers blatantly ignore them. The traffic signal at Civil Line intersection has been non-functional for several days.
Such incidents have gotten frequent in the state, calling for an immediate action.
