Mumbai and it's metropolitan regions are very likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, moderate to heavy rainfall and gusty winds (30- 40kmph) at isolated places as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed the districts of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad under Yellow Alert for the next four days.
Local Forecast for Next 48 Hours
As per local weather forecast for Mumbai city and suburbs for the next 48 hours, the skies will be generally cloudy with moderate rain with possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning. The maximum & minimum temperatures will be around 30 deg. C. and 25 deg. C.
Other Districts Also on Alert
Several districts in the state are placed under Yellow for moderate to heavy rainfall for the next couple of days, including Ratnagiri, Pune, Satara, parts of the Marathwada region etc. While several districts of the Vidharbha region are placed under Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The rainfall activity in Mumbai and MMR is less this month compared to the first two months of the monsoon. However, the IMD has forecasted the revival in September.

From June 1, Mumbai's Colaba observatory has recorded 1,015 mm rainfall and Santacruz observatory has recorded 1,374.5 mm rainfall.
