Gemini Update: Google is working on a big feature for Gemini, photo editing feature is about to be available...

Google is working on improving the image generation capability of its Gemini chatbot. According to a new report, the company plans to add an inline image editing feature to the artificial intelligence (AI) bot. The feature has been spotted in the latest beta version of the Google app and is being developed for smartphones, but it is unclear whether the feature will be available for the web client as well. The special thing is that the Microsoft Designer platform is already offering an inline editing feature through Copilot.

Gemini's inline image editing feature
According to Android Authority's report, this new feature was spotted in version 15.40.31.29 of Google's Android beta app. The feature surfaced during the app's APK teardown. However, those who have signed up for Google's beta program will not be able to test it yet as it is not a visible feature at the moment.

Until now, editing images through Gemini was a difficult task. If a user did not like something in a particular part of the image, he had to generate another image by giving a follow-up prompt with new details. However, this new image could remove the good parts of the old image. There was no way to replace only the bad parts while keeping the good parts.

Now this problem will not happen with the new update. Based on a demo video released by the company, it can be said that this feature is based on two interactions of the user. After the image is generated, the user can highlight a part of the image and add a follow-up prompt, so that Gemini will change only that part and leave the rest of the image.

By the way, it can be seen in the video demo that this feature is not fully working yet. In many instances, the entire image changes despite the feature being instructed to change only one part. But it is possible that by the time this feature is rolled out to users, these problems will be fixed.
