Godhovan Mela 2025: The fair at Barwaghat in the Masrakh block of Saran district began on Friday with traditional rituals. Devotees, along with their families, lit lamps at the ghat, remembering Lord Shri Ram.
Godhovan Mela 2025: The historic Godhovan Mela concluded with great enthusiasm on Friday at Barwaghat in the Masrakh block of Saran district . This is the sacred place where Lord Shri Ram washed his feet during his exile.
For this reason, the crowd of devotees is continuously increasing every year.
The fair began on Friday with traditional rituals. Devotees first worshipped Lord Hanuman, Lakshman, Lord Shiva , and Goddess Parvati before bathing. Afterward, devotees, along with their families, lit lamps at the ghat , remembering Lord Rama and Goddess Sita .
On the very first day of the fair, a crowd of thousands of people gathered, due to which the entire area echoed with the chants of “Jai Shri Ram ”.
Fairly decorated with hundreds of shopsThe Godhovan Fair has become a major center of religious faith as well as a major center of the local economy. Hundreds of shops selling sweets, toys, decorative items, and household goods lined the fairgrounds. Women and children shopped enthusiastically , while local villagers celebrated the occasion like a festival.
The administration controlled the crowd.The local administration had made special arrangements for security and crowd control. The station house officer and police force were constantly monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents. Despite the administration's vigil, managing traffic was proving challenging due to the massive crowd of devotees.
Mythological belief is associated with Lord Shri Ram.According to the Ramayana legend, Lord Rama washed his feet at this very spot while on his journey from Janakpur to Ayodhya. Since then, the place has become known as " Godhoawan ." Devotees believe that bathing and worshipping here washes away the sins of life and brings peace to the mind.
The Godhovan fair in Mashrak is not only a symbol of religious unity but also of cultural unity, where faith, tradition, and folk culture come together.
