'Remove bomb rumour posts', Central Government takes strict action on threats to planes; Important instructions given to social media platforms

For the last few days, bomb threats are being given to planes in the country. The central government has become strict about this. The Ministry of Electronics and IT has issued instructions to social media platforms. The government said that it will be their responsibility to inform the government about those doing such acts. Let us tell you that on Friday also more than 25 planes had received threats.

The Ministry of Electronics and IT has asked all social media along with intermediary platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram to not allow the transmission of news like bomb rumours from their platforms. If someone does this on their platform, then it will be their responsibility to remove such false news from the platform and inform the government about those doing such acts. Otherwise, they will have to be ready to face the consequences under the IT Act and the Indian Judicial Code 2023.

    There are constant bomb rumours

    It is worth noting that for the last few days, rumours of bombs in airplanes are being spread continuously. In the last one week, false news of bombs in airplanes has been spread more than 125 times. This has caused panic among passengers and has caused loss of crores to the airlines.

    The ministry says that due to the option of forwarding, re-posting or re-tweeting news on social media and intermediary platforms, news like bomb rumours is taking a dangerous form and there is a possibility of affecting the security of passengers as well as the country's security and economy. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all social media along with intermediaries to stop such posts from running on their platforms and remove them immediately and inform the government about the people who post such posts within 72 hours.

    Rumors were also received on Friday

    On Friday, 27 domestic and international flights received threats, which turned out to be fake. On Thursday, 83 planes across the country received bomb threats. In the last 12 days, more than 300 flights operated by Indian airlines have received bomb threats. Most of the threats were given through internet media. In view of these threats, security measures have been increased at the airports of the country.

    An IndiGo spokesperson said on Friday that seven flights, including 6E 87 from Kozhikode to Dammam (Saudi Arabia), received security-related information. Seven flights each of Vistara and SpiceJet also received threats, while six Air India flights received threats. A bomb was reported on a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga. All passengers were searched when the plane reached the airport. During the investigation, the bomb report turned out to be false.
