As he headed into the garden, Mickey then asked Love Island's Chris Hughes if they get to choose who they vote out. He told the star: "I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick." JoJo overheard and replied: "That’s homophobic if that was your reasoning."
"You can’t do that, Mickey," Chris warned Mickey but he doubled down on his comments. He then said: "I need a f*g," before gesturing to JoJo and saying: "I’m not talking to you." Chris then interjected and said: "Mickey, you can’t say that." Mickey then said: "I know. I was talking about a cigarette."
After Mickey's shocking comments, Chesney weighed in on the homophobic remarks and praised the singer for how she handled the uncomfortable situation.
He also remarked how JoJo reminded him of his own daughter, Jesse, who is also part of the LGBTQIA+ community. While in the Diary Room, he said to : "This incident with Mickey and JoJo kind of knocked me a little bit."
The hitmaker added: "It's funny because JoJo is the same age as my daughter. My daughter is also part of the LGBTQ community so it just reminded me of her and I think she really handled it well. So I was just sort of proud of her in a fatherly way."
Love Island's Chris Hughes wasn't the only one who stood up for JoJo as Mickey was called into the Diary Room by Big Brother and warned not to make those kinds of derogatory comments about the housemates again.
Big Brother warned: "Mickey before you entered the Big Brother house the rules regarding unacceptable language and behaviour were explained to you ... Mickey, do you understand how this language could be offensive to your Housemates or the viewing public?"
"Yeah I think so. If I was saying it in a nasty kind of way or if I truly meant it," Mickey then replied, with Big Brother saying back: "Mickey, Big Brother thinks your language was offensive and unacceptable.
"As a result, Big Brother is giving you a formal warning. Further language or behaviour of this nature could lead to you being removed from the Big Brother house. Mickey, do you understand?”
Mickey replied: "Yes I do. It’s some serious stuff .... I apologise. I don’t have dishonourable intentions - I’m just talking smack you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry."
