Speaking to Capital Breakfast host Chris Stark, was asked to listen to a clip they had recorded while the team were visiting 's house. In the short clip, the 78-year-old could be heard saying Ed's name, but instead of pronouncing it Ed 'Sheer-uhn', he said Ed 'Sheer-anne'.

Laughing, Ed replied: "I know, mate. I've actually had the awkward conversation with him, being like, 'I've known you for 15 years, it's not Sheer-anne', but it's just one of those things."
Chris asked, in a clip from the interview, which was shared on : "You can't really argue with him, can you?", to which Ed answered: "Well I can and I do, but I don't know, I think it's quite nice."
Co-host said: "It's kind of like when your nan just said something, and you know she said it wrong and you've just got to go with it, haven't ya?"
Ed added: "And it's just his way. It's like my parents always call be Edward. I'm not Ed to them. I'll always be Edward and I just think I'll always be Ed Sheer-anne to Elton."
Ed and Elton have a longstanding friendship which stretches back more than 15 years. They have written at least three songs together, including their 2021 track, Merry Christmas.
The 34-year-old has been open about the support he's received from the Rocket Man singer in the past. Speaking on Smooth's Famous Firsts podcast back in 2021, he said: "From the beginning, he's been a mentor, from the beginning he's been like 'anytime you want to call me, anytime you need advice'. American radio wouldn't play me, so he flew over there to play a private gig for them, to make sure that they play me.
"And the Grammys wouldn't put me on, so he made sure he played the Grammys with me to have me on. Throughout my career, he's been the guy that has nudged it an extra inch.
"And now I'm at a point in my career where I feel like, not equals, cause he's had such a long career, but I ring literally on a daily basis, like literally every single day, even if it's for two minutes.
"He's my favourite human, and it's so rare to find people in the music industry that are just clean hearted, there's like no bad energy around him, he doesn't wish bad for me, he doesn't go 'oh Ed's doing too well he needs to calm down', he's the best."
