'I bought a Dunelm runner with lots of five-star reviews and I can see why buyers love it'

When I recently started looking for some new and affordable additions to my home, I found myself entranced by lots of lovely things on offer at Dunelm. I was particularly taken by their selection of rugs and runners, all of which looked really nice.

I always think that a runner in your hallway adds warmth and style while protecting floors from daily wear and tear. It also helps reduce noise and creates a warmer welcome for visitors.

When I spotted the on the Dunelm website I instantly added it to my basket. In a soft sage colour it looked really pretty and being washable made it even better. Without hesitating, I chose the 60cm x 230cm (2ft x 7.5ft) for £35.

Described on the website as "a timeless piece that blends traditional design with everyday practicality," the machine washable design sounded like a smart choice for my busy household.

Just the right size for my hallway, the runner has what I would call 'an old fashioned look' which I think blends perfectly with my wooden floor. Having spotted much more expensive ones online, I was hesitant about the quality of the Dunelm version.

I have to say I needn't have been worried about it. The runner feels soft under foot, has a beautiful design and better still, it was able to lay flat straight away.

Whether it’s muddy footprints or dirty paws this rug looks like it's up to the task. I haven't washed it yet, but I love the idea that I can when I need to.

I love this, but if it's not for you, Amazon is selling the in a variety of lengths and colours. Soft under foot, buyers seem impressed with them, with prices starting from £24.99.

Alternative, Dunelm has lots of other designs to choose from. My next best favourites include the natural look of the from £35 or the brightly coloured pattern on the, also £35.

It's not just me who was impressed with the runner. With 290 reviews on the Dunelm website, the Gabriella rang has been giving a by fellow buyers..

One delighted shopper said: "Just brilliant! Bought two to lay side by side in my kitchen (needed long length but just 120cm wide). Stays put, easily washed. Have another one in the utility room which gets a lot of traffic. Would recommend!"

A second added: ". Not too thick so the door can still open. Brilliant that it’s washable as well although haven’t tried to do that yet. Lovely colours and good quality."

Another customer chimed in, saying: "I love this for our hallway! Ties in so well with our light wood flooring and shoe cabinets. This is the natural colour and 60cm x 230cm (2ft x 7.5ft) size. Good quality and value."

Sadly not every buyer was quite so impressed by their purchase. One disappointed buyer left a three-star review that said: "It's alright. It's a long, thin rug that goes on the floor. Better than bare floorboards. Nowt to get excited about though."

Another delighted customer however summed up all the positives, saying: "I purchased the natural colour in the 600cm size for a long, narrow hallway. and the underlay is remarkable; it doesn't budge at all even though it's on very slippery tiles. At the same I purchased this, I also bought another runner from a different company for the landing that was twice the price. The Dunelm one was much easier to lay flat and is easily as nice looking. I'm really impressed with it."

Argos also sells a stylish priced at £21, that also has the advantage of being suitable to be used outdoors.
