Jake Paul's much-anticipated exhibition bout with Gervonta Davis is hanging by a thread after MVP reportedly "pulled their request" for an event permit in Georgia.
Just last month, it was revealed that the two boxing stars were set to clash on 14 November at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The 'Problem Child' was keen to keep up his momentum following his commanding victory over ex-middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June. The win marked the YouTube star-turned-boxer's first time back in the ring since his heavyweight face-off with Mike Tyson.
However, just weeks after the announcement, both Paul and Davis have been dealt a significant setback. The Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission (GAEC) informed USA Today that MVP Promotions had abandoned its attempts to get the fight approved.
Rick Thompson, chairman of the GAEC, disclosed that MVP had 'withdrawn the event permits and rule waivers required to hold the fight in Georgia on 14 November', reports All Out Fighting.

Thompson stated: "I believe it's in the public's interest to know that because they've been promoting something they should not have been." As of Tuesday, 16 September, tickets were still up for grabs online, and the fight remained listed on the State Farm Arena event calendar for the confirmed date.
On Tuesday, Most Valuable Promotions, co-founded by Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, confirmed that a significant announcement regarding the exhibition fight would be made on Wednesday. However, the current status of the bout between Davis and Paul remains uncertain.
Reports suggest that MVP had "requested a rule waiver that would have addressed the weight discrepancy between Paul and Davis," in an attempt to stage the fight in Georgia. Since the confirmation of the match-up, many fans have criticised the announcement - primarily due to the vast difference in weight between the two fighters. The 'Problem Child' has mainly fought at cruiserweight throughout his career, while Davis is predominantly a lightweight.
The GAEC commission was set to vote on MVP's requests on Thursday. Reports indicate that the promotion needed the votes of three out of the five commissioners for approval. The chairman - one of the five commissioners - has vehemently opposed the rule waiver that would have altered restrictions on the allowed weight difference between both 'Tank' and Paul. "They probably evaluated a situation, knew that their weight differences were too much,'' Thompson added.
Despite concerns, Bidarian took to X - formerly known as Twitter - on Wednesday afternoon to reassure boxing fans. He wrote: "Fight is not in doubt. Never has been. Stay tuned."
When is Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis? As previously mentioned, the face-off between Paul and Davis is set for Friday, 14 November. The entire event will be hosted at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Official timings for the bouts will be announced nearer to the date, but the main event is expected to kick off around 4am UK time.
Just like the Paul vs Tyson and Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano fights, all the action will be streamed on Netflix. The streaming giant has confirmed that it will be included in all subscription plans. Netflix's pricing ranges from £5.99 per month with adverts, to £12.99 per month ad-free, and a 'Premium' service at £18.99 per month.
