Lorraine Kelly returned to our TV screens on Tuesday (September 17) morning and minutes into the show she took the opportunity to welcome her co-star back to the show after a lengthy break.

Entertainment correspondent Ross King, 62, has been absent from the ITV hit breakfast show as he enjoyed a short break over the summer holidays.

Making his return to the show, Lorraine started off by saying: “Ross is here all morning. Ross we have missed you, how was your holiday?”

The LA based reporter was thrilled to be back as he replied: “Aw thank you, it’s lovely to see you in the pink.” Speaking on what he got up to during his break, he revealed that he jetted off to Paris to celebrate a friend's wedding.

He said: “Lucky I headed to Paris to see my old pal David Stewart get married to the lovely Betsey. David is the son of the legendary Allan Stewart, who has just been in the West End and you know him well so it was great to be there. It was great to see the Eiffel Tower.”

Ross then congratulated Lorraine on becoming a grandmother after her daughter Rosie Kelly Smith welcomed her daughter into the world. Rosie, 30, and her fiancé Steve White, decided to call their little girl Billie Kelly Smith-White. At the time, Lorraine said in a sweet post that she has no doubt that the couple will be the "best parents"

Speaking to his co-star about her new family member, Ross said: “What made my trip was I got some lovely pictures from you and Rosie of the baby. Granny. The picture of Billie waving at me made my holiday.”

A picture of the Hollywood sign then popped up on the screen but it read Billiewood and Ross joked: “I don’t know if you know this because obviously I see this sign everyday but look at this the Hollywood sign has changed.”

Lorraine burst out laughing and added: “As it should be. That’s brilliant, I love that. It’s great to have you back.” Ross later surprised Lorraine with a sweet gift for baby Billie. He said: “I’ve got a present for you, a little present there for you in the studio.”

Lorraine was surprised as she replied: “Oh but you’ve already given me a present when you turned Hollywood into Billiewood.”

The TV host then pulled out a baby grow which had Billiewood written on the front. Grateful for the gift she turned to the screen and said: “Oh gosh this is great. You know what she is so tiny, this will fit her soon. Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you.”

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV and ITVX
