The fourth instalment of Outer Banks is set to hit Netflix this month, bringing back the Pogues for more thrilling escapades. The popular series will welcome back its main cast, along with some fresh faces.

Chase Stokes reprises his role as John B Routledge and Madelyn Cline returns as Sarah Cameron, while Rudky Pankow will once again portray JJ. Madison Bailey will continue her role as Kiara and Johnathan Daviss is back as Pope.

Carlacia Grant also makes a comeback as Cleo, a character we first met in season three.

While the characters remain consistent, a new format is being introduced. The fourth season will be split into two parts; the initial five episodes will drop on Netflix on October 10, followed by the second half on November 7.

A host of new characters are set to make their debut too, with J. Anthony Crane joining the cast as Chandler Groff and Pollyanna McIntosh taking on the role of Dalia, reports the Manchester Evening News.

In other casting news, Brianna Brown will play Hollis Robinson, Rigo Sacnhez will star as Lightner and Mia Challis will appear as Ruthie.

It's an exhilarating period for the Pogues, considering it's been 18 months since they discovered the fold in El Dorado. Despite grappling with the aftermath of the deaths of Ward Cameron (Charles Esten) and Big John (Charles Halford), they still found reason to celebrate their triumph.

After the third season's dramatic leap 18 months ahead, revealing Wes Genrette's (played by David Jensen) pitch to the Pogues for a quest to uncover Blackbeard's riches, the fourth instalment of the series will whisk audiences back to witness the events that culminated in this intriguing proposition. Post their successful hunt for El Dorado's gold, the Pogues make their way back to OBX, pledging to embrace a 'normal life'.

Creating their own slice of paradise, dubbed Poguelandia 2.0, they've set up shop living together and running a thriving bait, tackle, and charter tour business. But when money troubles hit, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope, and Cleo are swayed by Wes' tempting offer, setting them off on an exhilarating new quest in pursuit of Blackbeard's fabled treasure.

The excitement ramps up in the official trailer for Outer Banks season four, dropped by Netflix in September, where John B hints at the thrilling escapades ahead with a cheeky line: "Come on, how long were we really gonna stay out of trouble? " he quips in the footage.

Outer Banks series four part one will air on Netflix on 10 October.
