Strictly stars issued 'strict rules' for new series after show scandals

The new line-up of Strictly Come Dancing stars have reportedly been issued "strict rules" for the latest series after recent show scandals. A new host of celebrities are getting ready to take to the dance floor next week but it looks like there's been some changes.

Strictly has been plagued by scandals over the last couple of series but it seems now that BBC bosses are putting some guidelines in place. The fan favourite show has been in the headlines when it comes to scandal which includes Wynne Evans' TV axe as well as Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima leaving the show after being accused of misconduct.

However, BBC bosses have now stepped in and have reportedly put some rules in place to try and ensure there are no more scandals. The rules are set to include subjects such as swearing and alcohol.

The Daily Mail reported that dancers will have to follow rules which will include "no swearing, drinking alcohol to excess or inappropriate clothing" to make sure everything goes smoothly this year.

It's also thought that dancers will have tighter rules when it comes to social media usage. The new rules will come into place as the new series starts on September 20.

A source reportedly told The Sun: "This includes no swearing, no 'adult content/humour', and the instruction to 'avoid inappropriate language on clothing'.

"They are reminded their role must be family-friendly, and not sexually explicit or too innuendo-heavy, basically. Crucially, this year they have been told to avoid any content of alcohol being consumed 'irresponsibly'."

The Mirror has contacted the BBC for comment.

Wynne Evans left his long-running BBC Radio show following a series of scandals whilst on Strictly Come Dancing last year and its subsequent live tour.

It was announced back in May of this year that the 53-year-old would not be returning to his BBC Radio Wales show, which he had hosted since 2016. A spokesperson for the BBC said at the time that there were also "no plans" to work with him again.

Wynne announced that he would host the Wynne Evans Show on other platforms instead. He then launched his new weekday radio show last month and later told fans that he had more than 40,000 listeners for the first episode.

It was also confirmed that the BBC has "no plans" for a second series of his travel show Wynne & Joanna: All at Sea.

Wynne competed on Strictly last year and was partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones. The duo ended up apologising during the series for what he described as them "messing around," over a scene of him with his hand on Katya's waist.

It was later reported whilst on the tour that he had apologised for using "inappropriate and unacceptable" language amid reports that he used the term 'spit roast' to Janette Manrara at a photocall.
