Tom Troupe dead: Mission Impossible and Star Trek star dies

Mission Impossible and Star Trek star Tom Troupe has died at age 97 at his home in Beverly Hills from natural causes. The family confirmed the news on Sunday, five days after his birthday.

The actor is survived by his son Christopher Troupe, daughter-in-law Becky Coulter, and granddaughter Ashley Troupe. The iconic actor married Carole Cook, known for her role in Sixteen Candles, in 1964 until his wife sadly passed away of heart failure at the age of 98 in 2023.

To honour the actor, requests have been made to give donations to either the Entertainment Community Fund or the Pasadena Humane Society, instead of giving flowers.

Tom has had a busy life, which started when he moved to New York in 1948, where he studied at the Herbert Berghof Studio in Manhattan. His life took a turn as he served in the Korean War, where he was awarded a Bronze Star for his service. The war was fought from 1950 until 1953.

Tom then welcomed his son Christopher with his first wife Sally before they went their separate ways in 1962. Tom then returned to New York and made his Broadway debut as Peter van Daan in 1957's The Diary of Anne Frank.

Troupe also co-founded a Los Angeles-based acting school, The Faculty, alongside Charles Nelson Reilly, Lu Leonard, John Erman, and Dom DeLuise.

Tom's acting career then went from strength to strength as he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he flourished in the acting world. Some iconic roles included playing David Day in the Mission: Impossible TV series and Lieutenant Matthew Harold in the Star Trek TV series.

Tom is also known for his roles in The Fugitive, Wild West, Mary Hartman, The Wild, Mary Hartman, Cagney and Lacey, Murder She Wrote, CHiPs, and Knots Landing.

Fans rushed to send their tributes after hearing about the actors passing as one fan posted on X: "May he rest in peace."

Another added: "That leaves Clint Eastwood as the last surviving cast member of Kelly's Heroes," as a third penned: "RIP Tom Troupe."
