Former Australian captain Michael Clarke believes that India will have to include Kuldeep Yadav in the playing 11 to win over England. He said that selecting wrist spinner Kuldeep in the final eleven is a 'decision taken without thinking'. Let us tell you that the Indian team is currently on a tour of England and is playing a five-match Test series. In the first match, the hosts defeated the guests by five wickets and took a 0-1 lead in the series.
'Include Kuldeep in the team'
The second match of the ongoing series between India and England will be played in Birmingham from July 2. Before this match, Michael Clarke has given special advice to the Indian team. He believes that whatever the condition of the pitch, the Indian team management should include Kuldeep Yadav in the playing 11. He said in the Beyond23 podcast - In terms of bowling, I do not want to put too much emphasis on any one player, but I think they should play Kuldeep Yadav. I think it is very easy. He is a wicket-taking bowler and could have done much better than what he did in this Test.'
England won the first Test.
England won the toss in this match and decided to bat first. India scored 471 runs in the first innings and got a marginal lead of six runs by bowling out England for 465 runs in the first innings. India's second innings was all out for 364 on the fourth day and it gave England a target of 371 runs, gaining a total lead of 370 runs. England easily achieved the target on the last day and managed to take a 0-1 lead in the series. England won by scoring 373 runs for five wickets in the second innings.
Clarke is upset with this tendency of team management.
During this, Clarke criticized India's tendency to prioritize batting depth over a balanced bowling lineup. He said- 'India has done this for some time. They are very concerned about adding extra batting or increasing the batting depth and they are willing to take the risk of not selecting their number one spinner to do that. I think to win in England, you have to try to take 20 wickets.'
Bumrah did not get support from the rest of the bowlers.
Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets in the first innings for India at Headingley. He did not get any success in the second innings. However, he bowled at an economy of three and tried to control England but he did not get enough support from Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj. Now Clarke has also spoken on this issue. He said- Bumrah is a star, he is leading that attack. But the other three fast bowlers, yes, bowled well at times but they need to find more ways to take wickets. They probably have to perform better.
