Team India’s opener KL Rahul had a tough outing during the ongoing Delhi Test against the West Indies. After missing out on a big score in the first innings, Rahul’s return to the crease in the second innings turned painful when he suffered a nasty blow while facing pacer Jaden Seals.
The incident occurred on the fourth day of the Test match, Monday, October 13, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. West Indies, who were made to follow on, fought back strongly in their second innings and set India a 121-run target for victory. As India began their chase, they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal early, putting pressure on KL Rahul to steady the innings.
Rahul in agony after groin injury
However, in the very next over, Jaden Seals bowled a sharp delivery that moved back in after pitching. Rahul attempted a defensive shot, but the ball struck him directly in the groin despite his protective gear. The impact was severe—Rahul immediately dropped his bat, crouched in pain, and screamed, visibly uncomfortable.
The on-field physio rushed to assist him as play came to a halt. Rahul remained down for a few minutes, receiving treatment and a pain-relief spray, while teammates and spectators looked on with concern.
Fortunately, not a serious injury
After a brief break, Rahul managed to get back on his feet and resumed batting alongside Sai Sudharsan. The injury, though painful, turned out to be minor. His quick recovery was a huge relief for both the team and fans, who had been worried after seeing him in visible distress.
