Prime Minister Modi has arrived in China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held from 31 August to 1 September. This bilateral meeting of the two leaders took place just before this big conference.

During his bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "We had very fruitful discussions in Kazan last year, which gave a positive direction to our relations. After disengagement (withdrawal of troops) on the border, an atmosphere of peace and stability has been created."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said, "An agreement has been reached between our special representatives regarding border management. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has resumed.
