Shimla: PWD and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh expressed his disappointment on Monday regarding the misrepresentation of his statements concerning the vendor policy in Himachal Pradesh, asserting that they had been unjustly portrayed with a communal bias. During a press conference in Shimla, Singh clarified that his comments were in line with the law and reaffirmed his dedication to serving the interests of the people of Himachal Pradesh while adhering strictly to his party's principles.
Singh stated, "We raised the issues of the people of Himachal. It's unfortunate that the discussion around vending zones in our Municipal Corporations was given a communal and religious angle." He addressed the presence of Tibetan residents operating shops in the state, emphasizing that anyone could work in Himachal as long as they registered to maintain internal security. Regarding the display of restaurant owners' names, Singh reiterated, "Our intention was clear: we aim to protect the interests of Himachal. There is no question of deviating from the party's ideology." He pointed out that the Rural Urban Livelihood Act, created in 2014 and implemented in Himachal Pradesh in 2016, must be effectively managed to serve the state’s needs.
Singh stressed that any individual from any part of the country could come to Himachal, but registration was essential for cleanliness and security. He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the party's leadership and the people of Himachal, stating, "The support of 70 lakh people of Himachal Pradesh is paramount for all of us." He also highlighted the establishment of a multi-party committee to review these issues, which includes Congress and BJP members, ensuring that the voices and concerns of all citizens are heard and addressed.
