Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), commonly referred to as Jewar Airport, is set to commence operations at Jewar Airport on April 17, 2025. This date marks a delay from the originally planned opening in September of this year, caused by holdups in the delivery of construction equipment and materials.
Here are five important points about the Noida International Airport:
Upon inauguration, the airport will feature 30 flights, including 25 domestic flights, 2 international flights, and 1 cargo flight. IndiGo and Akasa Air are currently negotiating with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to establish both domestic and international routes. The airport plans to operate a total of 65 daily flights, with 62 dedicated to domestic routes, 2 to international destinations, and 1 for cargo. Arun Vir Singh, NIAL's CEO, shared that the international flights will connect to Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai. Domestic routes will serve cities such as Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dehradun, and Hubli. The final flight schedule will be announced soon. On October 15, the airport successfully completed calibration of its Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI). The ILS provides critical navigation guidance for pilots during landing, especially in low visibility, while the PAPI uses lights to indicate the correct descent angle during the approach. In its initial phase, the airport will have one terminal, one runway, 10 aerobridges, and 25 parking stands. Once fully developed, the airport aims to accommodate up to 70 million passengers annually.
