Berhampur: TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Odisha government, has initiated several key initiatives in Rayagada district to modernise electricity infrastructure.
These include strengthening transformer capacity at Gumuda, Bikrampur, Minajhola, and Therubali substations, ensuring greater resilience and consistent supply. At Muniguda, both transformers were upgraded from 3.15 MVA to 5 MVA, creating significant additional capacity to meet the district’s growing residential and industrial needs, the Discom said in a release.
It further informed about 33 KV lines constructed from Gunupur Grid Substation at Okhilaguda to Bikrampur, Dumbasara, Jaltaar, and Gunupur, enhancing coverage across multiple habitations and industrial clusters. Another important line was laid from Hatamuniguda to Shiv Mandir, Pitamahal, strengthening the supply backbone. Key 33 KV feeders such as Dangasoroda, Sunger, and Gunupur were modernised, adding further stability to the system.
At the 11 KV level, new lines were laid from Tikiri town to Nuapada and from Town-3 to Tumudiguda, ensuring reliable connectivity to expanding urban areas. Several existing feeders—Town, Court, Suludi, Ramanaguda, Dhepaguda, Gudari, Siriguda, Ambadola, Town-4, and Muniguda—were upgraded to deliver enhanced quality of supply to households, institutions, and commercial establishments.
These developments have created a robust distribution network that is prepared to meet future demand while maintaining efficiency and reliability.
“Industries in Rayagada now have access to more consistent power, enabling higher productivity and competitiveness. Farmers are supported with dependable supply for irrigation, contributing to improved agricultural outcomes. Educational institutions are leveraging stable electricity for digital learning, while healthcare centres are better equipped to deliver modern services. Villages and towns across the district are witnessing the positive impact of uninterrupted electricity, which is fostering digital inclusion, small businesses, and overall socio-economic progress,” it added.
Amit Kumar Garg, CEO of TPSODL said that progress in Rayagada is not just a regional achievement but also a reflection of India’s broader journey towards energy security and inclusive development. “It is a district where industry and tradition go hand in hand, and reliable electricity is the foundation that connects them. By strengthening the network, building new lines, and modernizing feeders, TPSODL is ensuring that power reaches every corner of Rayagada with quality and consistency,” he said.
