A badly neglected who "changed colour" after being cleaned up by his rescuers has finally found a loving home.
Oliver, a Shih Tzu/terrier cross, outside Dogs Home's Wolverhampton rescue centre in March.
Staff said the poor creature was cold, petrified and had long matted fur which was seemingly black and dark-brown when he was discovered.
But after a long-awaited bath and groom - which took a number of hours - workers at the home were astounded by the fluffy golden coat that emerged.
The frightened pooch was then given round-the-clock care and efforts were made to find him the loving and attentive environment home he deserved.
Fi Harrison, from the centre, said at the time: "It was clear that he had been neglected for many months and his matted, filthy coat was causing him a lot of discomfort and stress.
"We were amazed to see he had a much lighter-coloured coat when all of the dirt was finally washed away.
"Over the last few weeks, this brave little lad has been receiving round-the-clock care from our dedicated team and fantastic support from our amazing supporters, who have been donating to our charity to help us fund his care.
"His personality has transformed along with his appearance as he has learnt to trust his carers and changed from being a very nervous and scared boy to a very loving, happy chap who is a true delight to be around".
But after a traumatic period, Oliver's luck has finally changed for the better.
A spokesperson for Birmingham Dogs Home confirmed that Oliver has since "found a loving home" and is "loving life with his new family".
She added that his new owners were a "perfect match".
