Angela Rayner is being tipped for a glittering new career in television just weeks after breaking down in tears during a live broadcast. The former Deputy Prime Minister stunned Westminster with her dramatic resignation last week, but now bookies believe her next big move could be swapping the Commons for the ballroom. William Hill has slashed odds to 4/1 that Rayner will sign up for the 2026 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
And she's not stopping there. The bookmaker also makes her a 5/1 shot to head into the jungle for I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in the next two years, while an unlikely switch to daytime TV could also be on the cards. She's 10/1 to host an episode of This Morning and 12/1 to become a permanent face on Good Morning Britain.
A spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps said: "Angela Rayner's resignation has sparked rumours around what could be next for the former Deputy Prime Minister and we think that if she doesn't opt for the microphone and start a podcast, she could be in line for a major TV appearance.
Starting up a new political podcast is her likeliest option at 5/2, but we make it a 4/1 chance that she features on next year's series of Strictly Come Dancing."
He added: "We've already seen Reform leader Nigel Farage in the jungle and Rayner could be next at 5/1 to appear on I'm A Celeb next year, with her other ITV option being to host This Morning, which is a 10/1 chance.
"If she is to remain in politics then a defection to Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana's new left-wing party is 8/1."
The bookmaker has even priced up more unusual options, including 10/1 for Rayner to front a Dry Robe advert and 25/1 to present a TV travel series about train journeys before the end of 2027.
Rayner's emotional live TV moment earlier this year sparked sympathy across the political spectrum, and her profile has only grown since stepping back from frontline politics.
Her mix of working-class grit and high-profile political clashes has already made her one of Labour's most recognisable figures - and now her name is being linked with some of the country's biggest entertainment shows.
While her immediate future remains uncertain, one thing is clear: Angela Rayner is now being seen as both a political heavyweight and a potential prime-time star.
Whether she ends up dancing the cha-cha, braving the jungle, or hosting on the sofa, the odds suggest her next move will be watched very closely.
