Channel 4 fans have taken to social media to complain within minutes over the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off. Fans moaned over the contestants demonstrating their mastery of making a classic frangipane.

An iconic French pastry, the remaining bakers had to prepare their own version of the recipe, before taking on the Technical and then creating stunning decorative sweet pie Showstoppers.

However, fans were less than happy over how often the word 'frangipane' was used during the episode. Many took to X to voice their complaints, whilst others thought it was amusing.

One person penned online: "If there was a drinking game for every time they say frangipane we'd all be frangipaned ."

A second also said: "still don't understand what a frangipane is ," whilst a third said: "somehow watching and the amount of times 'FRANGIPANE' has been mentioned in the last 10 minutes i think is genuinely nearing over 2000."

A fourth also similarly said: "Stop saying frangipane! lmao," whilst another chimed in: "turns out I really like the word frangipane ."

The nation's most famous tent later saw the bakers attempt to make a flaky pastry, although some couldn't manage to balance the lightness and the structure.

The showstopper challenge involved making a Paris-Brest, completed with a freestanding podium. The recipe is usually a French dessert made of choux pastry and a praline flavoured cream.
