Coronation Street fans weren't happy with Friday's episode (July 25) as they switched off in droves. Despite several huge storylines featuring in the episode - with Kevin Webster rushed back to hospital after nearly collapsing in the street, and Sam confronting Lily in a tense moment - one glaring issue meant fans were left upset with their usual instalment of the ITV soap.

Furious fans spotted that the lighting in the episode seemed "off", with several indoor scenes appearing dimmer than usual and a strange sheen over the footage. Taking to social media to share their complaints, one fan said: "The lighting is ABYSMAL!" while another echoed: "Are they saving leccy at Granada?" Somebody else said: "The picture is too dark. I've cleaned my specs and closed the blinds but it's still too dark."

Another complained: "[To be honest] I turned off Wednesday's episode with 20 minutes to go, couldn't stand it anymore."

While another said: "Off to Top of the Pops, can't be a***d with Corrie!"

In the episode, Kevin's cancer secret was exposed after he collapsed on the cobbles trying to chase after a car being stolen from the garage. Glenda ran into him on the street struggling to breathe and rushed him to the hospital, exposing the fact that he was lying about needing more chemotherapy to treat his prostate cancer.

In reality, he's been told by doctors he no longer needs treatment, but kept it from his wife Abi after he feared she was cheating on him with his brother Carl.

At the same time, his sister Debbie is battling dementia - leaving the family in turmoil as Kevin's son Jack worries he's about to lose his father as well as his aunt.
