Donald Trump report on GMB leaves viewers fuming as Adil Ray question sparks backlash

Good Morning Britian fans have hit out at host Adil Ray after he grilled businessman Damian Bates over his friendship with Donald Trump ahead of the US president's upcoming visit to Scotland. During Friday's visit (July 25) to the ITV studios, the 51-year-old broadcaster woke up the nation alongside his co-star Charlotte Hawkins where they discussed some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines.

This included the President's upcoming visit to Scotland next week where he plans to enjoy a four-day golfing trip at his Turnberry resort at Meine. The small village at Turnberry, close to the course, has seen its population swell with security officials and a growing police presence. To get a better understanding on the Republican's plans for the trip, Adil welcomed Damien onto the show to quiz him about their friendship.

But it didn't take long before the broadcaster started questioning him about why he remains such close friends with Trump considering all the scandals surrounding him. He began: "Does it not concern you, you're a decent guy but Donald Trump has got some very serious allegations.

"We know about the hush money, he incited a riot of his own people against his own government on the 6th of January. Do things like that not concern you? Like, 'Hang on a minute, do I want to be friends with a guy like that?'"

Damian joked: "That's very gracious of you to say I seem like a nice guy. I take people for how I find them, I think Donald Trump is a very gracious individual, I get along very well with him, he's always been very nice to me.

"We have out disagreements, we've always had our disagreements, and we've never fallen out over that. I think the one thing you don't do with Donald Trump is tell him what you think he wants to hear, you tell him what you genuinely think. That's what he really wants to know."

It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their disappointment in the TV Presenter online for his targeted line of questioning.

One user penned: "Who the f**k is Adil Ray to question this guy's friendship with the US resident, not once but twice? How GMB keep getting this guy back is baffling. He's the biggest w***er around. #GMB."

A third fumed: "Carry on calling Trump a rapist Adil. He was never prosecuted for rape. Trump currently suing Murdoch for $Billions & I would love to see you and the other leftwing scum made bankrupt."

Meanwhile, a fourth warned: "@Ofcom surely the statement Adil made about @realDonaldTrump inciting the riots on 6th January is misinformation & defamation..."
