is once again under fire from its own fans, as a major new storyline has viewers branding the show predictable, repetitive-and ultimately the reason behind its award slump. The current plot centres around the discovery of Nate Robinson's body (Jurell Carter), which was pulled from a lake in shocking scenes that rocked the village last week. After Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) did a complete U-turn from planning to confess to the murder despite her innocence, Caleb Dingle (William Ash) was seen pushing Ruby to flee the country and go on the run.
Fans were left rolling their eyes at the sudden plot twist, dubbing it "predictable" as they flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their complaints online. One user penned: "Emmerdale doesn't win awards because it recycles the same storyline on a loop". Another agreed: "You see #Emmerdale this is why you don't win-dragging out storylines like this. 'I'm going to confess' repeated for weeks."
A third added: "# going on the run is the worst storyline idea. i'm so fed up of these predictable storylines no wonder doesn't ever win anything!"
Others echoed the sentiment, calling the saga "same s**t, different day" blasting: "Why does everyone related to the Dingles think going on the run to Ireland is the best course of action?" one fan wrote, clearly fed up with the show's familiar playbook.
Another added: "Caleb suggesting Ruby goes on the run - yeah cause nothing screams guilt like doing a runner."
Last Friday's Emmerdale episode saw panic erupt after Kyle (Huey Quinn) ran to the pub to tell Ruby, Caleb Miligan, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) that divers had pulled a body from the lake-right where the limo crash took place.
The group immediately assumed the remains belonged to Anthony Fox and feared their deadly secret was finally about to come out.

With forensics expected to uncover DNA from one of the six people involved in the cover-up, the pressure mounted fast.
Cain, Chas, Caleb and Ruby spent most of the episode in crisis mode, trying to get ahead of the fallout. It wasn't long before the drastic solution was agreed to go on the run.
But the plan didn't sit right with Ruby, who grew uneasy at the idea of Caleb sacrificing everything to protect her. He, however, insisted he had nothing left in the village if she wasn't in it.
As the pair prepared to vanish for good, Cain and Chas offered emotional goodbyes. But in a final twist, Ruby had a change of heart. Once Caleb slipped away, she made her own quiet exit-this time to the police station.
What Ruby doesn't yet realise is that the body recovered from the lake isn't Anthony Fox's at all-it's Nate Robinson's. And with that, she's on the verge of blowing open an entirely different murder case.
