Emily Head, known for her role as Rebecca White in , first appeared on the show in 2016 and remained a key character until 2018.
During her tenure, she was involved in several dramatic storylines, including an affair with her sister's partner, surviving a car crash caused by her murderous nephew Lachlan White (Thomas Atkinson) which led to the deaths of her father Lawrence White and half-sister Chrissie White, and being held captive for months.
In November 2018, Rebecca left the village for Liverpool with her boyfriend Ross and her son Seb, seeking a fresh start away from the traumatic past. However, recent scenes revealed that Rebecca tragically died off-screen during surgery.
Away from Emmerdale, Emily, who gained fame as Carli D'Amato in Channel 4's The Inbetweeners, lives with her boyfriend Jarrod. She is also the daughter of a renowned actor.
Emily and her actress sister Daisy are the daughters of actor Anthony Head, who initially gained recognition through the Gold Blend coffee adverts before achieving international stardom with his role as Rupert Giles in the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Emily once said: "Because I'd grown up watching my dad on TV, it never really occurred to me that he was or wasn't [famous]. Obviously the [Nescafe Gold Blend] coffee adverts had been famous for people of my parent'' generation, so he'd always been recognisable," she continued.
Emily's father initially had reservations about her pursuing an acting career, but she has since established herself as a talented actress.
Before joining Emmerdale, Emily appeared in several notable roles, including Carli in The Inbetweeners from 2008 to 2010 and the 2011 film The Inbetweeners Movie.
She also played a villainous mastermind in M. I. High and made a guest appearance as Liz Wates in the BBC medical drama Doctors in 2011.
In 2013, Emily was cast as the title character's daughter in the Bravo drama Rita. The following year, she played Angela "Ange" in a production of Abigail's Party at Leicester's Curve.
More recently, in 2021, she portrayed Colette Andrews in the fourth series of the BBC drama The Syndicate, alongside Taj Atwal, Kym Marsh, Gaynor Faye, and Joe Sugg.
Regarding a potential return to Emmerdale, Emily expressed her fond memories of her time on the show in a 2022 interview with the Express, stating: "I had such a great time there and building the character and I felt ready to move on when I did."
"I like the idea of Rebecca living her best life in Liverpool with Ross and the baby Seb. I like the idea of leaving them there and having a brilliant time together. If there was ever a particular reason why she needed to come back to the village and if it fitted in with what I wanted to do that year, then sure, why not?".
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
