
A new study has named Europe's sunniest cities and it's no surprise the the top five are all in , a country that millions of Brits flock to for sunshine and . However, one city in the sunny country stands out as the one that receives the most sunshine out of all of them. Brits crave sunshine when they plan their summer getaways, considering it is something that we often don't get enough if here.
The new study by holiday rental platform analysed data from World Weather Online to find out which European cities get the most sunshine per month. Topping the list of all cities in Spain and across Europe for the most monthly sunshine is Cartagena on the southeastern coast of the country. The data revealed that Cartagena gets an average of 283 hours of sun per month, which is nearly 12 whole days of sunshine.
Meanwhile, the city is known for the heat as well. Temperatures in Cartagena can reach as high as 29C in July and August. In peak tourist season, the city gets rain on eight days in a month, according to the study.
Spain made up the top five list of the sunniest , which won't come as a surprise to the huge numbers of Brits who flock to the Mediterranean country for their summer getaways. Other countries that featrues in the top 20 list include Italy, France and Greece.
In second place on the list is which received an average of 279.6 sunshine hours per month. That was followed by in third place with an average of 279.3 monthly sunshine hours.
